State of the game - April 2025

This game has taken a lot of time to make, being in it's fifth year of "active" development since 2021.

The primary reason for that is because I only work on it periodically. Were I to work on it everyday, then I'd be no better than a zombie, groaning and banging my head, hoping to make ends meet in due time. That shouldn't be the case, because I make games for fun and not for opportunities. If I lose my creativity in favour of rushing a project, then it's no fun. Even for a meme game.

Also, I've been expanding the game - adding more content than renewing. You might wonder if that is even necessary for this type of game, but I don't mind. It's an RPG, and the best RPG is a complete one. Still, adding content aswell as fixing content, both old and new on a periodical basis for an RPG... takes time. I have a mental image over the game, and every once in a while, I get an idea of how to execute it.

Now then, I can't go through all the changes at once. But I will go through just a few, essential ones.

For one; branching paths.

Don't like the Winterlands? You can now go to this new map in it's stead.

There's also more minigames.

Find the right combination!

New equipment and renaming/adjusting of the generic equipment.

Some come with special effects! Not for 0G though.

When you enter a battle, Shrek will say something! Doesn't apply if he's not present however.

"Enough!" , "Alright, get outta here!" , "Shrek here, and I'm TICKED OFF!"  , "Oh, HELLO THERE!"...

Look forward to it!

As for newcomers; this might just all seem like a funny haha shitpost. But there's more to it! If you haven't seen the images above already, then I can assure you there'll be a mix of everything; battles, quests minigames, lore (ew) and branching paths. The game is also intended to be played in every way possible; whether if you waste all your gold on potions instead of quest items, or decide to skip an event interaction or two. It's akin to Undertale in that regard, where most NPC's react to many unconventional decisions of the player.

But in the end of the day, it's a meme's game. None of these features should really matter if you didn't already find the idea of playing as Shrek funny.
